Dr Gerald George
Dr Gerald George is a Consultant Rheumatologist who qualified from the University of Southampton, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a member of the British Society for Rheumatology and a member of the Royal Osteoporosis Society. He has an MBA business qualification from the University of Warwick.
Dr Gerald George covers all aspects of adult rheumatology including inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, connective tissue diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren's syndrome, systemic sclerosis, osteoarthritis, gout, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), giant cell arteritis / temporal arteritis (GCA), metabolic bone diseases, osteoporosis and osteomalacia, back pain, and soft tissue rheumatism which includes tendonitis, tenosynovitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow and plantar fasciitis. He performs rheumatological procedures including joint aspiration and injections and soft tissue injections. He also performs musculoskeletal ultrasound in the context of early inflammatory arthritis.
Dr Georgeβs academic journal publications include review articles on gout, Paget's disease of bone, inflammatory myositis, osteoporosis and sarcoidosis. He has also published short case reports on ankylosing spondylitis and stress fractures.
Dr George is committed to medical education having been a Royal College of Physicians tutor for four years and an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians MRCP exam. He is extensively involved in GP education and led a yearly GP Rheumatology Education update meeting for six years that consistently produced excellent feedback.
