Dr. Sonal Shankar is a UK qualified Consultant Dermatologist, having gained her medical degree in 1995 from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. She has been an NHS consultant since 2005, undertaking her dermatology training at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at Medway NHS Foundation Trust in 2006 and held an Honorary Dermatology Consultant post at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
Since 2019, she has worked at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (West Middlesex University Hospital). She has published papers in peer reviewed journals, engaged in research projects and has been a reviewer for scientific journals. She has won a British Society for Dermatological Surgery award and has also presented at national and international conferences.
She accepts referrals from adults and children, consulting on a wide variety of dermatological conditions such as moles, skin cancers, skin surgery to remove benign and cancerous lesions, cryotherapy for warts and pre-cancerous skin lesions, hair and scalp
disorders and inflammatory conditions including eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea.
She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, British Society of Paediatric Dermatology and is a Collegiate Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
